The Green train (train on wheels), will take you on a route through some of the most important ancient sites in and around the town and a quick glimpse of the Main Square, Town Beaches and The Marina area too. An audio tape describes local history and what you are looking at as you pass, in several languages.
Greek music is also played which will put you into the holiday spirit, make you want to tap your feet and clap your hands! It might be helpful if they provided you with an information sheet to, just in case you can’t hear over the traffic.
It runs every half an hour, at the moment from 9.00am – 5.00pm, subject to change. You will find the Train Stop opposite Goodies, on the Main Kos Harbour Area.
Tickets can be purchased as you board. It’s a great way to take a quick glimpse of Kos Town, especially if you are visiting from one of the village resorts or from a nearby island or even Turkey, on one of the boat trips. It lasts about 20 minutes, and lets you have a real feel of the place. Obviously, if you have the time you can then visit some of the sites yourselves afterwards.
Sometimes there is a lovely gentle breeze while you ride on the train which is very welcome in heat waves, and other times it can be very windy. Make sure you are suitably dressed for the weather!
